Dear Melanie, Brian, Lee, Vic, etal:

Our rights are under attack again in the state capital. Specifically, AB 821 the "lead ammo ban" now sits on the governor's desk. This bill is not based on science. It is politically based and usurps the power of the California Department of Fish and Game. It's intended purpose is to save the condors, but the reality is that it wouldn't do that. It would cause a loss of funding for wildlife of which 90% comes from hunting fees. Additionally, the suggested alternative (copper bullets) are available from one manufacture only at this time. Copper is more toxic to wildlife, chemically more active, more costly, and less effective than lead is ballistically.

AB 1471 is another assault on our rights to defend ourselves. It's intent is to make a mess for law enforcement by way of a single source patented scheme. This would require all handguns sold in California to "stamp"

cartridge cases with identifying marks. U.C. Davis studies (and my own experience of 21 years in the laser industry) prove the technical problems have not been addressed in this unproven method. Additionally, even if the technical problems were solved, such registration schemes would only create instant accusations of innocent people thereby wasting time solving crimes not to mention ruining lives unjustly. As a lifetime member of Law Enforcement Alliance of America, I can assure you and the listeners that police and sheriff deputies are opposed to this scheme.

Please give some talk-time and alert the listeners to call the governor now to stop these unwarranted attacks on the sporting community, citizens who desire to defend themselves, and the public.
