GS2AC MESQUITE AND SKEET BBQ WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT
Saturday August 18 was one of those summer days we love here in California. Sunny, breezy and warm. And for those that attended the GS2AC Mesquite and Skeet BBQ for 2012 it was even better.
Over 200 guests and members were on hand to enjoy the day at Coyote Valley Sporting Clays in Morgan Hill. Many of them took advantage of sporting clays instruction, archery and air gun range activities. Most popular of all were the LIVE falcons and hawks on hand with the team from West Coast Falconry . Davenriche Martial Arts wowed the crowd with demonstrations of traditional European sword fighting techniques. And our friends at Gun Fighters of the Old West helped us re-live famous shootouts.
And EVERYONE got fat on the BEST BBQ food in California. Anyone claiming to be on a diet was forced to abandon their cause as Master Chef Mike Varner and his team of chefs produced tri-tip, chicken, pork ribs and kielbasa that was out of this world.
For the 43 children who attended the BBQ, we held a special drawing for a Savage 22LR rifle with scope. Each child was given a FREE ticket to win the gun. Chris E., a first time attendee to the BBQ , had one happy son who found himself in possession of the winning ticket.
But the big winners of the day were the folks who took part in our grand prize drawings for two very special firearms; The CMP sourced M1 Garand and the NRA signature Smith and Wesson 22A target pistol.
As the ticket numbers were read off, our first winner proved to be a ticket holder who was called into work at the last minute and missed the BBQ. Our second winner was someone who got one of the last available BBQ tickets before we sold out.
AND best of all both of the winning tickets were the free ones provided as part of their BBQ Meal package !!!
Ticket number 597958 was owned by Dave B. who will be taking home the M1 Garand. According to Dave, his young son, a WWII history buff, was very disappointed that he could not attend with his father. But when he found out his dad won the M1 Garand he was bouncing off the wall in excitement.
Ticket number 598435 was owned by Jeff K. When his name was read off, he sat at his table in shock. I had to read off his number three times before he finally recovered and came up to claim his prize. According to Jeff "I always give money to gun raffles, and I never get to win. It looks like I got it right this time."
CONGRATULATIONS to all of our big winners !
